Families Moving Forward

Our Families Moving Forward program provides emergency shelter and supportive services to families experiencing homelessness. Our staff guides and supports parents to locate permanent housing, apply for jobs or school and pursue other necessary resources.

We partner with more than 40 host congregations in the Twin Cities metropolitan area that welcome families to overnight shelter and meals at their congregation sites for a week or more during the year.

The Families Moving Forward Day Center in North Minneapolis is the hub of daytime activity for families in our shelter program. Children are transported to and from school or Head Start from the Day Center. Parent resources at the Day Center include computers, a kitchen, storage for personal belongings, laundry facilities and a children's play area. Our staff advocates assist parents as they pursue their housing and employment goals.
